Admission Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in biology, chemistry, or a related field, from an accredited institution.
• Successful completion of at least five semester-long courses related to biology, chemistry, physics, math, and/or engineering.
• Overall GPA of 2.0 as shown on an official undergraduate transcript.
• Completion of online UMMC admission application.
• Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.

Admission to the Graduate Certificate Program is based on fulfillment of the general requirements below, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, genetic information, or veteran status. A student with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution may apply for the Certificate Program.

If your bachelor’s degree is not in a related field, you may be required to meet additional prerequisites for the Program, and these may be determined by contacting the program director, Dr. Bettye S. Hennington.

Undergraduate, and graduate if applicable, degrees must be earned from an accredited institution.  Applicants are required to submit an official transcript of grades to the Office of Records and Registrar. UMMC accepts e-transcripts, which must be sent directly to transcripts@umc.edu. If your school of attendance uses e-transcripts, please note that our institution is listed as University of Mississippi Medical Center, All Admissions. International applicants must have transcripts evaluated in a course-by-course report from World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).

International Students:

Applicants whose native language is not English and/or who have completed their tertiary education primarily outside of the U.S. must submit official scores of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Pearson Test of English – Academic (PTE-A) as evidence of English language proficiency.
