Generous stipends are available for graduate students throughout the department. Currently, the stipends are $23,100 per year. Numerous job opportunities for spouses of students are available at the Medical Center and in the city of Jackson. Until advanced to candidacy for the degree, a student pays tuition and fees of approximately $2025 per year. Subsequent years are $400 or less. Nonresident students may apply for in-state residency after the first year in the program. Students must also have health insurance which is now provided in addition to the stipend. The cost of books and dissertation preparation is assumed by the student.
